Nuru massage is a technique from Japan. This technique, often called body slide in the Western hemisphere, requires one or more Nuru masseuses to rub their body against the client's body. Both parties are nude and covered in an odorless, colorless massage gel - the Nuru gel.
Nuru in Japanese means “slippery or smooth”. The slipperiness of the Nuru Gel comes from its special formulation. Nuru Gel is not made from gelatin (animal collagen) as one would expect, but from an algae called Sphaerotrichia divaricata. This organic product gives Nuru Gel the unique properties. There are some Nuru Gels which have added chamomile, azulene (a skin conditioning agent), or other minerals to obtain specific properties. We think a neutral, odorless, flavorless gel is the most preferrable.
